All attacks no longer snap like in the larger games strikes occasionally do, but nothing else. However, this is not just a pared down system. Furthermore, because it's in 2D, it quickly becomes apparent that the tactics du jour are to get on one side of a group and attack from there, as the remaining thugs will patiently wait their turn.

If you came expecting the full arsenal of combat moves from Arkham games, prepare to be disappointed. A Metroidvania style exploration and backtracking game, Blackgate tries to bring the Arkham formula to a 2.5D sidescroller originally intended for handhelds, and like any of the various thugs of the game, it falls flat on its face whenever it tries to succeed.
